Whirling bug almost sculpted

The marquee for the ride is a wonderful play on words - a visual pun. The name of the ride is Bug Whirled. The ride cars are giant ladybugs and they spin as they ride around the figure eight track. The feature is to be situated inside one of the ride loops. We decided go go with a mechanical ladybug theme with four bugs holding up the globe (whirled) and a fifth ladybug (in a tutu of course) doing a pirouette on top. This ladybug sculpt is nearing completion with only her fingers yet to do. All of these pieces will be perched on top of the giant drum which is in turn perched on top of a giant stump. We delivered those pieces a couple of weeks ago.

Tree bug

The crew finished the sculpting on five of the mechanical bugs today. They look fabulous! With the structural steel now all hidden the bugs really look like they are straining to hold up the giant wooden globe. Now we are full blast into paint. By the end of next week we should be ready to ship these pieces to the PNE. We can hardly wait!
