Submarine grin

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed designing and building an incredible array of projects through the years. One of my many favourites is this submarine at NEB’s. The first version I dreamed up was created ten years ago as a promotional display piece. We assembled it for the first time a few weeks ago. Since then the NEB’s crew has added all of the jewelry such as the lifting arms, hoist chain blocks, flipper fins and the submarine door. I can’t look at this piece without a giant grin! :)

Day one progress

It is exciting to be finally assembling the mini golf features at NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario. We began the concept design for this project almost seventeen months ago. We worked on these features in our shop for the better part of a year. Now, at last, I am on location placing and assembling them in their final home. It was a busy first day as I laid out the golf with a spray bomb on a stick. Once I was clear where everything would be placed it was time to work with the big equipment to lift the heavy features and gently guide them into place. As the NEB’s crew bolted them in place permanently I would move on to the next feature. By day’s end, it was beginning to look like a real golf course! Tomorrow promises to be even busier on site as a team of bricklayers begin building the winding walls that will separate the holes. Stay tuned for another progress report tomorrow…

Back at NEB's

I’m back at NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario for the week to help install the mini golfs that we prefabricated over the last year. It is going to be a busy week as we do the layout, and place and install the features. I’ll be coordinating and teaching the trades teams about building the fencing, laying the block walls, establishing the grades and hopefully installing some greens and walkways. It is going to be a busy week! As I came into the site this afternoon I was delighted to see that the NEB’s crew had finished installing the giant entry pieces we had begun on my last visit. I had never seen the features fully assembled and they looked fabulous!
